To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) – the world’s largest celebration for entrepreneurship that occurs every year in November – we participated in a social sector dialogue event hosted by the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC).
The goal of GEW is to celebrate creativity and innovation and this Social Sector Dialogue was focused on using innovation and building sustainable processes and structures within social enterprises to increase their value and impact on society.

It was a great opportunity for those who operate in the social space to network and collaborate. But apart from that, we also had our pitching session to select the five #HackTheGerms Innovation Competition semi-finalists!
One of the semi-finalists pitching his team’s innovative sanitizer dispenser for the #HackTheGerms competition
It was very exciting to watch them all pitch their innovative hand sanitizer dispensers which will help prevent the spread of diseases and improve public health. As the semi-finalists talked about their designs, each of our five judges rated them on various criteria including functionality and design, market potential, ease of use, scalability, and passion.

So what now? Based on the pitching session, the judges have narrowed it down from 5 semi-finalists to 3 finalists. The ultimate winner will be announced during the closing ceremony for GEW which is happening on the 8th of December in Lagos. So stay tuned!
