On Tuesday October 20th 2015, we brought together more than 500 people including health professionals, government representatives, businessmen and women, the media, and more to celebrate one year of Nigeria’s Ebola-free status and the heroes and heroines that made it possible. This was also the official DRASA launch event.
At the DRASA launch event, which was held at the Civic Centre in Lagos, we unveiled #ItStartsWithMe, our public health awareness campaign, and announced plans and collaborations for our two other projects. As they entered the building, we invited all guests to wash their hands at the custom #ItStartsWithMe handwashing booth (see image below).
Attendees included the Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health Mr. Linus Awute; Lagos State Governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Primary Healthcare Dr. Olufemi Onanuga; and Lagos State Commissioner for Health Dr. Jide Idris.
All donations from the evening will be used to implement our vision to support Nigeria’s healthcare system through simulation training in infectious diseases and outbreak preparedness/response, both of which are urgent needs in the health sector.
