A Memorable Visit from the African Visionary Fund Team

On July 12, 2024, we welcomed the African Visionary Fund (AVF) team to DRASA. AVFund has been a partner of DRASA since 2022 and their unwavering support is vital to our mission. This visit gave them a firsthand look at the impact their funding enables across our program areas and this shared experience was an invaluable opportunity for reflection, future planning, and deepening our collaborative relationship.

A Day of Connection and Insight

The visit began with an engaging exchange between both teams, discussing the progress of our initiatives, achievements, and the goals we aim to reach together. These conversations highlighted not only our mutual dedication to improving the lives of communities but also the creativity required to expand our reach and maximize impact.

Inspiring Reflections from DRASA Ambassadors

One of the highlights was the AVF team’s visit to our Health and Hygiene Club at Community Senior High School, Wasimi, Lagos, where they met our DRASA Ambassadors. After the warm opening remarks by DRASA’s Managing Director, Niniola Williams, students enthusiastically shared their stories about how the Club’s lessons on hygiene, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and disease prevention have changed their behaviors and helped their families. One Ambassador recalled that after learning about AMR, her family committed to eliminating the habit of storing unprescribed medications at home— a powerful testament to the behavior change fostered by DRASA’s work and investment in youth.

Closing with Commitment
Before the visit concluded, both teams connected on a personal level and reflected on the meaningful discussions that had unfolded.

This visit not only strengthened our partnership with the AVF team but also reaffirmed our shared commitment to building healthier, informed communities.

We are grateful for AVF’s support and look forward to achieving greater impact together in the future.
