For 10 remarkable years, Dr Ameyo Stella Adadevoh (DRASA) Health Trust has been at the forefront of strengthening health systems in Nigeria: working alongside the government at the highest levels and grassroots community influencers at local levels to prevent illness, protect health, and preserve the legacy of a national hero.

Our 10th Anniversary on 20th October 2025 marked a decade of unwavering commitment, fruitful partnerships, and tangible progress in preventing diseases to build a healthier nation.

Highlights from our last 10 years include

Key Achievements

We facilitated the development of Nigeria’s 5-Year One Health Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) National Action Plan (NAP).

We supported COVID-19 response in 6 states, training 4,019 health workers and 1,803 personnel across sectors.

We activated 6 cross-border disease forums for early warning and joint response with 2 other countries.

We trained 24 national data and research professionals in statistical modeling for outbreak and pandemic forecasting.

We co-developed Nigeria’s first Infection Prevention and Control e-learning course for nationwide training access.

We partnered with the University of Lagos to deliver a 12-month diploma in Infection Prevention and Control, certifying 386 professionals to date.

We established Health and Hygiene Clubs in 30 secondary schools in 2 states, training 2,000 youth Health Champions who educated 8,332 peers.

We built pandemic preparedness capacity at 13 points of entry, training 1,438 officials

Vision 2035: Institutionalized Disease Prevention

Establish the DRASA Academy: A public health academy which includes Nigeria’s first-ever state-of-the-art Infection Control Simulation Centre and an edutainment hub.

At the academy, we will build the skills and competence of health workers, community members, and youth. Nurses will practice treating sick patients in a realistic ward; butchers will learn safe food and meat handling in a mock marketplace; Youth Health Champions will produce social media videos to change behavior.

We will build skills and competence and through the Academy, we will:

Train and certify 50,000 more health workers in infection prevention and control to strengthen patient safety

Expand our national Health Champions network to 500,000 people across schools, markets, faith institutions, and borders

Establish Centres of Excellence across all 6 geopolitical zones to drive innovation, research, and quality healthcare

Embed Disease Prevention in Schools Countrywide: Integrate hygiene, sanitation, and drug-resistant infection education into secondary school curricula. Equip teachers with the skills and resources to deliver engaging, practical lessons that build prevention-minded citizens and promote healthier communities for the future

Support Youth in Policy: Embed youth-led coalitions in national technical working groups and state governance structures to strengthen youth participation and use of community data in public health decision making. Formalize youth advisory roles in policy dialogues so those who will inherit the system can contribute to designing it.
