Youth Ambassadors

Developing Health and Hygiene Ambassadors

Through our #ItStartsWithMe campaign, we identified that Nigeria’s large youthful population and the extremely poor state of hygiene in most schools, academic institutions, and low-resource communities means that the majority of the country is exposed to unsanitary environments where infectious diseases quickly spread.

Coupled with the generally low levels of awareness on issues related to health and hygiene, we realized that there was a unique opportunity to develop a youth-targeted community engagement program.

We establish these Health and Hygiene Clubs in secondary schools and cover various topics including:

  • Personal Hygiene
  • Food Safety
  • Environmental Sanitation
  • Personal Health
  • Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
Adopt a Youth Ambassador

So we launched a program to develop Health and Hygiene Clubs that empower youth to develop healthy behavior patterns as a way to ensure they become habits/social norms in communities.

Through the program, we equip and train students to become DRASA Ambassadors who drive positive health and hygiene-related behavior change within their schools, families, and wider communities.
