Strengthening Community Knowledge and Response on Infectious Disease Prevention(SCKaR-IDP) Report

Community dwellers are the first point of contact in the face of any infectious disease outbreak. Equipping them with the right knowledge to identify and report suspected disease cases is fundamental to curbing the spread of infectious diseases before they become full-blown epidemics.

The Strengthening Community Knowledge and Response on Infectious Disease Prevention(SCKaR-IDP) project improved the capacity of 2089 community members in Somolu and Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Lagos State about the signs and symptoms of infectious diseases and the right approach to report these diseases.

Armed with knowledge gained and an information card detailing common infectious disease signs and symptoms and the phone number of their respective local health authorities, these community members, now Health Champions, have shared inspiring stories of their support for grassroots health improvement by reporting identified cases and educating their fellow community members.
