DRASA Endowment Fund

The DRASA Endowment Fund is a professionally managed Fund created to secure a sustainable financing stream and ensure DRASA’s lifesaving work continues as a movement to prevent infection and protect health.

The Endowment Fund’s principal will be preserved and remain untouched as it is invested and its annual returns are used to power our high-impact interventions.

To transform DRASA into a sustainable institution for the next decade and beyond, our goal is to raise ₦15 billion (USD 10.5 Million) in principal, for the DRASA Endowment Fund in Year 1. This first-of-its-kind initiative is designed to safeguard Nigeria’s health, ensure sustainable financing for workforce training, and deepen our impact.

The DRASA Endowment Fund Promise:

Preserving principal, powering impact, and protecting health for generations.

How Does the Endowment Fund Work?

Investment: The sum of the Legacy Endowment will be placed into a mixed investment fund. The principal will be protected, and the annual yield/earnings from the investments will fund DRASA’s work to co-design and implement solutions to public health challenges with the government.

Transparency: Funds remain in a ring-fenced investment account, managed by a licensed asset manager and overseen by the Board. Audited statements and impact reports with Key Performance Indicators will be shared annually.

What Will the Endowment Fund Achieve?

The DRASA Endowment Fund will unlock a future where preventable infections are rare, medications are effective, and every community has Health Champions equipped to identify and solve their local health challenges. With the establishment of this Fund, by 2035 we will work with our partners to:

Establish the DRASA Academy: A state-of-the-art Center of Excellence for health featuring Nigeria’s first dual-purpose simulation training centre for nurses and health professionals and a multimedia studio to educate the public. Scale and establish Academy hubs in each of the 6 geo political zones to establish a National footprint.

Build Competency Among Health Workers: Use technology and digital training to certify at least 50,000 health workers in infection prevention and control and institutionalize safe, quality healthcare delivery standards in hospitals, clinics and primary care centers nationwide.

Support Youth in Policy: Embed youth-led coalitions into National technical working groups and State governance structures to strengthen youth participation and use of community data in public health decision making. Formalize youth advisory roles in policy dialogues.

Expand the Health Champion Network: Ensure at least 500,000 active community members who identify local health challenges, promote health and hygiene, detect diseases, and are mainstreamed into state-level health systems.

Embed Disease Prevention in Schools: Establish hygiene and drug-resistant infection education as a core part of secondary school curricula countrywide to ensure all youth build lifelong disease prevention habits.
